Yankees put Park on DL

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Yankees have place veteran right-hander Park Chan-ho on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring, the team said on Friday.

"It's not really hurt. It's just a little sore," Park told Major League Baseball's official website (http://www.mlb.com). "They (the Yankees) asked me to just think about the DL for 15 days and I'll be 100 percent ready. That's the idea."

The South Korean, who signed a $1.2 million, one-year deal with New York in the off-season, felt the hamstring while warming up during the Yankees' 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. An examination on Friday revealed the low-level strain.

"There's a possibility that he would have pitched for us next week, but you run your bullpen short and you take the chance of hurting him worse," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.
