Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees have re-signed third baseman Chase Headley to a 4-year contract. Multiple reports have stated that the deal is worth around $52 million.
Acquired by the Yankees from San Diego on July 22 of last season, Headley hit .262 with six home runs and 17 RBI in 58 games after the deal. He had batted just .229 with seven homers and 32 runs batted in over 77 games with the Padres.
The 30-year-old Colorado native was an NL MVP candidate in 2012 when he swatted 31 home runs and led the league with 115 RBI. However, he has never come close to matching those numbers.
