New York, NY – New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano was named the top player in the American League for the period ending July 1.
Cano batted .414 with two doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI over seven games.
The 29-year-old Cano was elected on Sunday as the starter at second base for the American League in the upcoming All-Star Game.
Other players considered for the award included Cleveland's Shin-Soo Choo and Texas' David Murphy.
