Wright appointed manager of St Johnstone

St Johnstone hired Tommy Wright as its new manager on Monday to replace Steve Lomas.

Lomas led the club to a third-place finish in the Scottish Premier League last term, but he decided to take up the post of manager at Millwall.

The 49-year-old Wright has served as an assistant to Lomas at St Johnstone since November 2011, and he has gained coaching experience at stops that include Limavady United, Ballymena United and Lisburn Distillery.

Joining Wright's coaching staff will be first-team defender Callum Davidson, who started 20 league games for St Johnstone last season.
