Wolfsburg confirmed Friday that club has signed Brazil international Luis Gustavo from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who had been linked with Arsenal, made a total of 136 Bundesliga appearances both for Bayern and his former club Hoffenheim, scoring a total of 11 goals.

Gustavo fell down the pecking order in the Bayern squad following the summer arrivals of Thiago Alcantara and Mario Gotze. He appeared set to fight for his place in the team, but early preseason fixtures under new manager Pep Guardiola yielded little playing for the South American.

Financial details of the move were not disclosed, but Wolfsburg revealed that Gustavo has penned a five-year deal with the club.
