VANCOUVER - Imagine what tales the Stanley Cup could tell if it could just talk.

The cup can't talk, but Phil Pritchard, the cup's keeper, can, and he's watched as his charge has lived a life of its own while wandering the world.

Pritchard says the cup has stood atop of the Eiffel Tower, travelled to Russia's vast interior, greeted Swedish Royalty, offered comfort to the sick and bid farewell to the dying .

He says the cup is like an animate object, almost human in a way.

Sometime in the next week, the cup will travel in a non-descript case to the hometown of the 2011 Stanley Cup champions, either Boston or Vancouver.

The next game of the Stanley Cup final takes place Monday in Boston.
