Wawrinka rings in 2014 with a win in India

Chennai, India (SportsNetwork.com) - Top seed Stan Wawrinka highlighted Wednesday's second-round winners at the Chennai Open, a season-opening hardcourt Australian Open tune-up.
The Swiss slugger leveled German Benjamin Becker 6-3, 6-1 in 54 minutes at SDAT Tennis Stadium. Wawrinka titled here in 2011 and was the Chennai runner- up in 2010.
Up next for the world No. 8 star will be Slovenian Aljaz Bedene in the quarterfinals.

Israeli veteran Dudi Sela was leading Mikhail Youzhny 3-1 in the first set on Day 3 when the second seed from Russia retired from the bout, citing an upset stomach. Youzhny titled here in 2008.
Also on the first day of 2014, seventh-seeded Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin handled Czech Jiri Vesely 6-4, 6-4 and Bedene topped Russian qualifier Alexander Kudryavtsev 1-6, 3-0, retired. Roger-Vasselin will face Sela in the quarterfinals on Friday.
