Washington smothers No. 13 San Diego State

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Nigel Williams-Goss scored 15 points and the Washington Huskies used a strong defensive effort to grab a 49-36 win over the 13th-ranked San Diego State Aztecs.
Andrew Andrews chipped in with 13 points for the Huskies (7-0), who limited their opponent to 11-of-54 shooting, including 2-of-15 from beyond the arc.
San Diego State (6-2), which was playing in its first true road game of the season, has lost two of its last three.

Winston Shepard led the Aztecs' scuffling offensive attack with seven points.
Washington used an 8-0 run early in the game after Skylar Spencer opened the scoring with a pair of free throws.
The Aztecs went without a field goal for nine minutes in the first, but Dwayne Polee II's 3-pointer ended the string with 11 seconds left and cut their deficit to the halftime margin of six.

San Diego State went 5-for-30 (16.7 percent) shooting in the first half and trailed 21-15 at the break.
San Diego State's offensive deficiency continued in the second half as the Huskies opened up a double-digit lead on Andrews' 3 with 12 1/2 to play in the game. Andrews then hit another trey minutes later to make it 36-22.
The Aztecs once again went without a field goal for a good chunk of the second half, as Kevin Zabo's basket with under three minutes left was the first points other than free throws since Winston Shepard's layup 11 1/2 minutes beforehand.
