Macomb, IL – Western Illinois has promoted running backs coach KiJuan Ware to offensive coordinator, football coach Mark Hendrickson announced.
Ware enters his second year on the Leathernecks staff, He will continue to coach the running backs.
Last season, WIU had 100-yard rushers in five games and didn't lose any fumbles in 332 rushing attempts.
"KiJuan has an outstanding knowledge of the game and I know his leadership on the offensive side of the ball will be tremendous," Hendrickson said.
Ware also has been an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio), Notre Dame as an offensive intern, Dartmouth, Georgetown and Springfield College.
Ware replaces Doug Ruse, WIU's offensive coordinator in each of the last two seasons. He recently left to fill the same position at 2011 FCS national runner-up Sam Houston State.
