Vikings release TE Carlson

Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Vikings terminated the contract of tight end John Carlson on Wednesday.

Carlson caught 32 passes for 344 yards and one touchdown in 13 games last season, his second with the Vikings. He finished the season on injured reserve because of a concussion he suffered in Week 14 against the Ravens.

In 2012, Carlson had just eight catches for 43 yards over 14 contests.

The 29-year-old Carlson has 177 receptions for 1,906 yards and 14 touchdowns in 74 career games with Seattle and Minnesota. The Notre Dame product was originally selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
