Vikings RB Peterson doubtful for Sunday

Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - With Toby Gerhart out and Adrian Peterson listed as doubtful, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to start Matt Asiata at running back against the Lions on Sunday in the regular-season finale.

Gerhart will miss Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and will head into free agency this offseason. He rushed for 283 yards on 36 carries in 14 games this season.

Peterson (groin/foot) has carried the ball 279 times for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games this season.

Asiata is set to make his second career start. With Gerhart and Peterson on the sidelines two weeks ago against the Eagles, Asiata carried the ball 30 times for 51 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-30 win.

Cornerbacks Xavier Rhodes and Shaun Prater are both questionable with ankle injuries.
