Vikings in wait-and-see mode on Peterson as NFL considers running back's case

The Minnesota Vikings are waiting for the NFL to act on Adrian Peterson's case.

Until then, the star running back remains away from the team on paid leave.

Coach Mike Zimmer declined to speculate Monday about whether Peterson would immediately rejoin the team if he's reinstated by the league. Peterson is on a special commissioner's exempt list, stemming from his September indictment on felony child abuse. Peterson pleaded no contest last week to a lesser charge of misdemeanor reckless assault.

The NFL said Thursday it will offer Peterson a hearing as part of a review under the personal conduct policy. The Vikings said they "respect and understand the league's process."
