Valencia eases past Eibar

Valencia, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Valencia extended its unbeaten streak in league play to three matches on Sunday with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Eibar at the Mestalla.

Coming off a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano last time out, the hosts grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck early on as Nicolas Otamendi fired home the opening salvo in the 25th minute.

Valencia took the one-goal lead into the break and started the second period of play with just as much energy as Daniel Parejo doubled the lead in the 56th minute.

Francisco Alcacer netted in the 71st minute to make it 3-0 before Mikel Arruabarrena pulled one back for Eibar in the 84th minute. It was too little, too late, however, for Eibar as Valencia eased to the finish to claim all three points and remain in fourth place with 72 points.

Eibar, meanwhile, remains in 16th place with 31 points, just one clear of the relegation zone.

Also in La Liga on Sunday, Emiliano Insua and Hector Moreno traded goals as Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano played to a 1-1 draw, while Youssef El Arabi scored on either side of the intermission to lift Granada to a 2-1 win over Getafe.

Sunday's final fixture saw Jonathas and Mario Pasalic score to lead Elche to a 2-1 win over Malaga.
