Louisiana-Lafayette hired Garry Brodhead as its new women's basketball coach on Monday.
Brodhead, who graduated from the university in 1980 with a degree in business administration, spent the last five seasons at McNeese State, most recently as associate head coach.
"As we navigated through the search process and reviewed the qualities that we were looking for, Coach Brodhead kept rising to the top," said athletic director Scott Farmer. "His understanding of the game, history in coaching and passion for the University make him a tremendous fit for the position."

Brodhead won a Louisiana state high school girls' title with Teurlings Catholic early in his 16-year coaching career.
"I appreciate the opportunity that Scott Farmer and the University is giving me," Brodhead said. "I am very confident about what can happen here at UL and within the women's basketball program."
Brodhead is replacing Errol Rogers, who resigned last month after five seasons.
