Twins reliever Ryan Pressly suffered a setback in his recovery from a right lat strain, and is expected to miss the rest of the season, Twins general manager Terry Ryan told reporters Monday.

Pressly had been working his way back from the injury he suffered on July 4 in Kansas City, and was making strides in his recovery. He had progressed to playing long toss last week, but it "didn't go well" and he will have to restart his rehab program according to MLB.com.

"We backed him off, and we're starting from scratch again," Ryan said via MLB.com. "I'm not leaving a sliver of possibility [he'll return], because there's not enough time."

The 26-year-old right-hander had posted a 2.93 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 12 walks in 27 2/3 innings before the injury in early July.
