Tomasz Gielo scores 14 points to help Liberty to 69-45 win in opener over Randolph College
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Tomasz Gielo scored 14 points and had nine rebounds to lead Liberty to a 69-45 win over Randolph College in its season opener on Friday night.
Tied at 17-17 midway through the first half, Liberty broke the game open with a 14-1 run sparked by a Gielo jumper and capped by a 3-pointer from A.C. Reid and took a 38-24 advantage into the break. The Flames continued to pull away in the second half.
Reid finished with 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and David Andoh had 10 points and eight rebounds for Liberty, which shot 49 percent from the field.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Randolph, an NCAA Division III team, was led by Corey Brown, who had 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Jason Eddie had 10 points for the Wildcats.
Liberty dominated the boards, holding a 44-22 rebounding advantage over the Wildcats.
