Tomasz Gielo scored 14 points and had nine rebounds to lead Liberty to a 69-45 win over Randolph College in its season opener on Friday night.

Tied at 17-17 midway through the first half, Liberty broke the game open with a 14-1 run sparked by a Gielo jumper and capped by a 3-pointer from A.C. Reid and took a 38-24 advantage into the break. The Flames continued to pull away in the second half.

Reid finished with 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and David Andoh had 10 points and eight rebounds for Liberty, which shot 49 percent from the field.

Randolph, an NCAA Division III team, was led by Corey Brown, who had 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Jason Eddie had 10 points for the Wildcats.

Liberty dominated the boards, holding a 44-22 rebounding advantage over the Wildcats.
