Pittsburgh, PA – Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lawrence year contract through the 2016 season.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported the deal to be worth $50 million.
Timmons was heading into the final year of the rookie deal he signed after the club selected him in the first round of the 2007 draft. He was the first pick of the Mike Tomlin era.
The 25-year-old Florida State product has started 30 of his 62 career NFL games and has 291 tackles to go along with 15 sacks, three interceptions, seven forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.
Timmons is the third Steeler defensive player to ink a long-term contract since the end of the lockout, joining fellow linebacker LaMarr Woodley and cornerback Ike Taylor.
