One of the biggest sports beefs of the 21st century still has not been squashed.

Terrell Owens, appearing on Shannon Sharpe’s "Club Shay Shay" podcast, said that if he were to enter the celebrity boxing realm he would love to take on – and take out – his former Eagles quarterback, Donovan McNabb.

"I’m dead serious, Shannon, I’ll knock him out," Owens said. "Because there would be so much pent-up [rage].

"I’ll be controlled. It’ll be controlled anger. I’d be like a Navy Seal. They’re cool and calm under all conditions. But there would be a fire burning inside of me."

Asked by Sharpe if he would literally try to knock McNabb out, Owens responded, "Clean out. I’d knock the Chunky Soup from him. From 2004! Trust me."

Owens said he has been approached by promoters to dabble in celebrity boxing. Sharpe threw out the number $2 million for what Owens could command, and asked him what it would take to fight McNabb.

"A can of potted meat and some crackers," Owens answered, repeating it for good measure.

Celebrity boxing is hot right now, as brothers and YouTube stars Jake and Logan Paul have proven to be reliable draws. The ranks of former professional athletes who have participated in boxing exhibitions in recent memory include Shaquille O’Neal, Chad Johnson and Jose Canseco.

If McNabb feels the same way about a fight that Owens does, there would assuredly be a considerable payday for both of them.

Owens and McNabb were teammates in Philadelphia for the 2004 and 2005 NFL seasons, including a Super Bowl loss to New England to conclude their first year together. There has been a war of words ever since, with Owens recently accusing McNabb of drinking before the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss.

Earlier this year, their former coach Andy Reid wished the two would bury the hatchet.

"Things happen in this business, man, and I’m not a grudge holder, I’ve never been that way," Reid said during Super Bowl week. "I’ve talked with him. I’m close with Donovan, I’m close with him. My wish would be that those two just bring it back together."

At least from Owens’ side, it does not appear as though Reid’s wish has come true.
