Terps take down Duke, advance to Elite Eight

Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Shatori Walker-Kimbrough netted 24 points to lead her top-ranked Maryland Terrapins past the fourth-seeded Duke Blue Devils, 65-55, in the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament at Spokane Arena.
Maryland (33-2) has won 27 consecutive games dating back to Dec. 3, which is the longest such streak in program history, breaking the old mark of 24 straight wins. The Terrapins move on to the Elite Eight, and will square off against second-seeded Tennessee on Monday.
Laurin Mincy chipped in with 15 points and seven assists to help the Terps, while Brionna Jones tallied a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in the victory.

Under coach Brenda Frese, Maryland has been to five Elite Eights, with two trips to the Final Four and one national championship in 2006.
Elizabeth Williams scored 18 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds to pace Duke (23-11). Ka'lia Johnson contributed 15 points for the Blue Devils, and Azura Stevens added 11 in the loss.
Maryland was able to grab a 31-23 lead at halftime thanks to a 40 percent shooting touch from the field in the opening period. The Terps held the Blue Devils to just 36 percent shooting in the same frame.

Both teams shot roughly 48 percent in the second half, but the Terrapins continued to build their lead, which stretched to as many as 13 points with 39 seconds left to play in regulation.
Maryland outscored Duke from beyond the 3-point arc, 24-9, and held a 33-24 edge in rebounding in the victory.
