Tejera returns to Espanyol

Sergio Tejera is set to return to the club where his career began as Espanyol announced Tuesday that it has signed the midfielder from Mallorca.

The 22-year-old first joined Espanyol in 2000 but never made a first-team appearance with the Catalan club, instead opting to join English side Chelsea in 2006.

Tejera failed to establish himself in the Premier League and was loaned to Mallorca in January of 2009. He made a lasting impact upon his return to Spain and nailed down a permanent move to the Estadio Son Moix the following summer.

But after 31 appearances with Mallorca, the Spanish youngster makes his return to Espanyol, signing a four-year deal to remain at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat until 2016.
