Chiba, Japan – Toru Taniguchi closed with a 5-under 66 on Sunday to come from behind and win the Bridgestone Open.
Taniguchi finished at 12-under-par 272 to successfully defend his title. This was his 19th Japan Golf Tour victory.
The 44-year-old had back-to-back birdies from the second and again from the 11th on the Sodegaura Course at Sodegaura Country Club. Taniguchi dropped shots at 13 and 14.
Taniguchi birdied the par-5 16th and closed with an eagle on the par-5 18th to grab the title.
Hiroyuki Fujita posted a 68 to take second at minus-11. Kunihiro Kamii (65), Ryuichi Oda (68) and Dong-Hwan Lee (69) share third place at minus-10.
