Farragut, TN – Darron Stiles posted a 5-under 66 on Saturday to move into the third-round lead of the News Sentinel Open.
Stiles finished 54 holes at 14-under 199 and is one stroke clear at Fox Den Country Club.
Second-round leader Erik Flores, a Web.com Tour rookie, birdied 18 for a 2- under 69. He is tied for second with Patrick Sheehan, who had a 66 on Saturday, at 13-under par.
James Sacheck carded a 4-under 67 and is alone in fourth at minus-12.
John Daly, the 2-time major winner, who narrowly missed out on the PGA Tour Playoffs, fired a 66 on Saturday and moved into a tie for fifth at 11-under par.
"I love the way I'm hitting the golf ball, I've been hitting it good all year," said Daly. "I like my game plan going in to a tournament. It's been a long time since I've felt that confident over tee shots. I feel like I'm seeing the shot that I want to hit and I'm doing it more than I ever have."
Stiles played decently on the opening nine Saturday. he made three birdies and a bogey on the front side, but his last birdie, at the ninth, kick-started the run that took him to the top of the leaderboard.
Stiles birdied nine, 10 and 11 to reach 13-under par. He parred the 12th, then made birdie at the par-3 13th to get into first place at minus-14.
Stiles parred his last five for the third-round lead.
In 2002, Stiles won this championship and is the all-time leading money winner on the Web.com Tour.
"The course is a little different with some of the changes that they've made," said Stiles. "The holes still go the same way, the looks are the same and the targets are still the same. I have always had the positive memories when I come back."
Kent Jones (66), B.J. Staten (64), Scott Dunlap (67) and Adam Hadwin (68) joined Daly in fifth at 11-under par.
NOTES: Stiles has four Web.com Tour victories, with his last coming in 2006...First-round leader Casey Wittenberg, who is second on the Web.com Tour money list and one win away from an automatic promotion to the PGA Tour, had a 2-under 69 and is tied for 14th at minus-9.
