Steelers hire Joey Porter as defensive assistant coach

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter has rejoined the team as a defensive assistant coach.
Porter was originally drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played with Pittsburgh from 1999-2006 and helped the club to a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.
The 36-year-old Porter also played for the Miami Dolphins (2007-09) and Arizona Cardinals (2010-11). For his career, the four-time Pro Bowl selection registered 98 sacks, 25 forced fumbles, 12 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries, three touchdowns and one safety. He recorded 60 sacks as a member of the Steelers.

Porter assisted the Colorado State coaching staff in 2013.
"We are excited about having Joey back with the Steelers' family," said Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. "Joey spent a number of years with Pittsburgh as a player, and now he's back to assist the coaching staff. We look forward to his efforts and contributions."
