Following Southern Utah's first appearance in the FCS playoffs, head football coach Ed Lamb's contract has been extended through the 2020 season, athletic director Ken Beazer announced Monday.
It's the second extension for Lamb since his original contract in 2008.
Lamb, a finalist for the 2013 Eddie Robinson Award, led the Thunderbirds to an 8-5 record, which tied their single-season record for wins and included a victory over FBS member South Alabama. The Thunderbirds fell to Sam Houston State in a first-round playoff game two weeks ago.

"Coach Lamb is a proven winner at this level, not only on the field, but with what he has been able to do with the development of our student-athletes off the field," Beazer said. "I'm looking forward to working with him in the years to come to build upon the foundation that he has established."
