A Scottish Premier League soccer player has been suspended by his team after he was placed on the sex offenders register.
Hearts made the move after defender Craig Thomson pleaded guilty earlier this month to lewd, libidinous and indecent behavior towards two underage girls.
The Edinburgh club initially said it would stand by the 20-year-old, but indicated a change in position in a short statement on its official website.

It said: "Hearts today announce that Craig Thomson is suspended with immediate effect. No further comment will be made by the club."
The U-turn comes after criticism of Hearts' handling of the situation following Thomson's conviction.
Last week, the club had said there was "no reason for Craig Thomson not to continue his career as a professional footballer and he will resume training with immediate effect"
