Seattle's Jackson to miss 2014 season

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Storm announced Wednesday that Lauren Jackson will miss the entire 2014 WNBA season after undergoing surgery on her right knee and left Achilles earlier this week.

Jackson also missed the entire 2013 season due a hamstring injury.

"I'm so sad that I can't play this year in Seattle," Jackson said in a statement from the team. "This injury took me by surprise and I'm just coming to grips with the severity of it."

Jackson competed with the WCBA's Heilongjiang in Harbin, China during the 2013 WNBA offseason and returned to Australia for surgery Monday.

A three-time WNBA MVP, Jackson was drafted first overall by Seattle in the 2001 WNBA Draft. She holds career averages of 18.9 points and 7.7 rebounds in 317 games with the Storm.

Jackson is a seven-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA Champion. She was the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2007.
