An Indiana basketball spokesman says sophomore Devin Davis is in serious condition after being hit by a car driven by freshman Emmitt Holt.

Senior assistant athletic director J.D. Campbell said in a news release that Davis was hit early Saturday morning just after exiting the vehicle on the Indiana University campus and was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

The release, which cites preliminary information, said Holt was cited for illegal consumption and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content above 0.02. Campbell said Holt's BAC was 0.025.

Coach Tom Crean said in a statement that his "thoughts are with Devin and his family" and that the team will support Davis and Holt.

Crean also said, "We are working to gather additional information on the accident."
