Gelsenkirchen, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Schalke will be without defender Sead Kolasinac for the next six months after he suffered a torn ACL in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Hannover.

Kolasinac sustained the injury just 16 minutes into the match, and tests have revealed the extent of the problem with the 21-year-old expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international made two appearances at the World Cup in Brazil this summer and he was the subject of reported interest from Manchester United among other teams in the transfer window.

Last season Kolasinac appeared in 24 Bundesliga games for Schalke, which finished third in the league table last term.
