Springfield, GA – Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal was arrested Monday in Georgia after being caught speeding.
According to the website of the Effingham County Sheriff's office, Olazabal was stopped for going 97 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone. Reports indicate that he told police he was leaving the Masters, posted a cash bond of $621 and was released.
Olazabal is a two-time Masters champion, but missed the cut at Augusta National this past weekend. He is scheduled to play at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina, this week.
The Spanish golfer will captain the European team at the Ryder Cup this fall, when it faces the United States in Medinah, Illinois.
