Ryan Anderson lands with Hornets in sign-and-trade

The Orlando Magic sent forward Ryan Anderson to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for forward/center Gustavo Ayon in a sign-and-trade deal on Wednesday.

Anderson averaged career-bests in scoring (16.1) and rebounds (7.7) over 61 starts for the Magic last season and led the league in three-pointers made en route to the NBA's most improved player award.

"We are very excited to add a player of Ryan's caliber to the Hornets Organization and the New Orleans Community," Hornets general manager Dell Demps said. "Ryan is a high character person, a good teammate and a player we believe will make the Hornets a better team."

Ayon averaged 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during his rookie campaign in 2011-12.
