Russia beats Kazakhstan 4-1 at hockey worlds

COLOGNE, Germany (AP) — Alex Ovechkin and Washington Capitals teammate Alexander Semin have led Russia into the second round of the hockey world championships with a 4-1 victory over Kazakhstan.

Russia has won both its Group A games. Kazakhstan dropped to 0-2.

Ovechkin scored once and Semin had a goal and two assists in Tuesday's game in Cologne. Semin set up Ovechkin's goal on a power play in the 10th minute and added one of his own late in the second period.

Goals from Ilya Kovalchuck in the second period and Denis Grebeshkov in the third gave Russia a 4-0 lead. Kazakhstan got a late goal from Dmitri Dudarev.

In Group C in Mannheim, Norway beat the Czech Republic 3-2. Both teams have three points from two games.
