Rossiter, Siena hold off Canisius 73-69
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Ryan Rossiter scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Siena to a 73-69 win over Canisius on Monday night.
The Saints (7-10, 4-3 Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed 69-68 after a 3-pointer from Gaby Belardo with 1:20 left on the clock. Rossiter knocked down two free throws with 59 seconds left to give Siena a 70-69 advantage.
Belardo, who led the Golden Griffins (8-9, 2-5) with 29 points, missed two 3-pointers in the final 26 seconds to seal the win for the Saints. Julius Coles scored 10 points and was the only other player in double figures for Canisius.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Clarence Jackson scored 15 points and Rakeem Brookins and OD Anosike added 10 apiece for Siena, which outrebounded the Golden Griffins 38-31.
The Saints avenged their 62-61 loss to Canisius on Jan. 7 by committing only 10 personal fouls and scoring 19 points off 11 turnovers.
