Denver, CO – Colorado right-handed pitching prospect Alex White is slated to make his Rockies debut this Tuesday.
The club announced the move on Saturday, three days before White's anticipated turn against the Houston Astros.
White will take the spot in the rotation vacated by Jason Hammel, who has struggled in that role in August and will be moved into the bullpen.
Acquired in the July 30 deal from Cleveland in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal, the 27-year-old North Carolina native went 1-1 with a 1.65 earned run average in 16 1/3 innings over four starts at Colorado's Double-A affiliate in Tulsa. He has battled a torn tendon in his right middle finger since the start of the year which has limited his playing time.
White made his major-league debut with the Tribe earlier in the season, going 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in three starts.
As a result of White's start, Aaron Cook will have his turn pushed back to Wednesday.
