The Colorado Rockies placed starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.

Chacin has a lower back strain and is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on Monday. The 25-year-old was off to an excellent start this season, accumulating a 3-0 record with a 1.46 ERA in four starts.

He is eligible to come of the disabled list on May 5.

To fill the roster spot, the Rockies have recalled right-handed reliever Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Scahill was 2-0 with a 4.26 ERA in five appearances with the Rockies' minor league affiliate this season. He pitched in six games last September for Colorado and registered a 1.04 ERA.
