Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rockies activated outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
To make room on the roster for Gonzalez, the Rockies optioned pitcher Jair Jurrjens to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Gonzalez returns from the DL after missing 35 games. He had a tumor removed from his left index finger on June 10. The Rockies went 11-24 in his absence.
The 28-year-old Gonzalez hit .255 with 12 doubles, eight home runs, 31 RBI and 27 runs scored in 52 games before landing on the disabled list.
Jurrjens went 0-1 with a 10.61 ERA in two starts for the Rockies this season.
