NEW YORK (Reuters) - National League batting leader Jose Reyes returned from the disabled list for the New York Mets' lineup on Monday to help his team beat the Florida Marlins 5-1.

Reyes was back in his role as the Mets' lead-off hitter in his first action since August 7 after his second left hamstring injury of the season sidelined him for three weeks.

"He brings such energy to the field and the team," Mets manager Terry Collins told the team's website (newyork.mets.mlb.com).

"I think his energy, his presence in our lineup, makes us a better team."

The four-time All Star shortstop is currently batting .336 to hold a slim edge in the NL batting race over Milwaukee's Ryan Braun who is hitting .334.
