Revolution's Rowe earns MLS Player of the Week honor

New England Revolution midfielder Kelyn Rowe was named the Player of the Week for Week 26 of the 2013 Major League Soccer season on Monday.

Rowe, a third-overall selection in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, scored a pair of beautiful goals on Sunday in New England's 5-1 rout of the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium.

Rowe opened the scoring for his club in the 26th minute when he ripped a shot from distance that just snuck past the outstretched arm of Philadelphia goalkeeper Zac MacMath and into the bottom left corner.

He completed his brace in the 65th minute when he smashed a rising shot into the top right corner that left MacMath with no chance for a save. The result pushed the Revs into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference on 36 points.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
