(STATS) - Savannah State's struggling football program is going through another head coaching change.
Earnest Wilson III stepped down at the Georgia university after three seasons to become the head coach at Elizabeth City State, according to reports Friday.
Wilson compiled a 2-32 record, with only one Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference win. The Tigers have had only one season with more than two wins since moving to the FCS level in 2000, and Wilson's three seasons marked the longest tenure for a head coach since Bill Davis from 1986-92.
Linebacker coach Tony Pierce will serve as interim head coach, WJCL-TV in Savannah said.
Division II Elizabeth City State, located in North Carolina, competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
