Madison, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Wisconsin will reportedly hire current Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst as its new head football coach.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Chryst, a former Wisconsin assistant, will take the position which was vacated by Gary Andersen, who became Oregon State's new head coach earlier in the week.
Chryst, 49, has compiled a 19-19 record in three seasons at Pittsburgh, which will play Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl on Jan. 2.

Chryst has also worked as a tight ends coach with the San Diego Chargers from 1999-2001 and has served as an assistant at Oregon State, Illinois State and UW-Platteville.
Earlier on Thursday, former head coach and current athletic director Barry Alvarez announced that he will coach the Badgers for the upcoming Outback Bowl against Auburn on Jan. 1.
