Report: Lions give Schwartz contract extension

The Detroit Lions have reportedly given head coach Jim Schwartz a contract extension.

The Detroit Free Press reports it's a multi-year package.

Schwartz took over the Lions in 2009, one year after the team went 0-16.

The Lions finished 2-14 in the first year under Schwartz. The following year they went 6-10 and last year brought a 10-6 mark, when the team earned its first trip to the playoffs since 1999. Detroit lost to New Orleans in the wild card round.
