(SportsNetwork.com) - Retiring the jersey number of one of their all-time greats couldn't help the Philadelphia 76ers, but they will try to halt a 13- game losing streak Sunday evening when they visit the Orlando Magic.
The Sixers retired No. 3, the jersey number worn by Allen Iverson on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center, but it didn't help the current product. Philly lost its 13th in a row, and 12th straight at home, a 122-103 setback to the Washington Wizards.
The Sixers' main problem was defense, allowing a career-high 40 points to Trevor Ariza and a floor record of 74 points in the first half.
Philly traded two starters at the deadline for little in return as rebuilding is the clear focus of the organization. With this roster and its lack of defensive intensity, it begs the question, can the Sixers win another game.
Head coach Brett Brown was asked if he thought his team would win again this season and replied with honesty.
"All the time, I tell them that. This is the truth if we don't play better transition defense, if we don't share the ball then we got some problems, that's a fact," said Brown.
Tony Wroten scored 19 off the bench and Thaddeus Young had 17 points for the 76ers. Rookie Michael Carter-Williams finished with 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
The Sixers visit the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
The Magic put up a game fight against the Miami Heat on Saturday night, but eventually fell to the two-time defending champions, 112-98 in South Beach.
Tobias Harris finished with 20 points, while Nikola Vucevic recorded an 18- point, 10-rebound double-double in the setback.
Kyle O'Quinn contributed 14 points with a career-high 15 rebounds. Orlando couldn't build off of Wednesday's road win over Philadelphia, which snapped a 16-game skid away from home for the Magic.
"Anytime when you're playing the best teams in the NBA, defending champions, you really have to be on your game," said Harris.
Overall, the Magic have dropped six of their last eight, but won the last time at the Amway Center, a 129-121 double-overtime thriller against the New York Knicks.
Orlando welcomes the Houston Rockets on Wednesday before hitting the road again.
The Magic have taken two of three from the 76ers this season, including that streak-busting victory on Wednesday. Philly has dropped five straight and 11 of its last 12 in Orlando.
