After seeing a hand specialist on Monday, Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan decided to undergo surgery on Monday on his fractured right hand.

The surgery was successful and there is optimism that Kerrigan can return for the Redskins' Week 9 game against the New England Patriots after their Week 8 bye. Kerrigan is arguably the team's best defensive player. Despite racking up just 3.5 sacks this season, he has tallied 2 quarterback hits and 19 additional hurries, per Pro Football Focus.
