Reds hand Cubs another loss

Drew Stubbs had three hits, drove in three runs and stole two bases as the Cincinnati Reds jumped on the Chicago Cubs early and held on for a 9-4 victory in the opener of a three-game series on Friday.
Homer Bailey (1-2) picked up his first win after allowing four runs -- one earned -- on five hits in seven innings.
Jay Bruce added two hits and two runs scored for Cincinnati, which has won two straight since dropping five of its last six.

Chris Volstad (0-2) gave up six runs -- five earned -- on seven hits and two walks for the Cubs, losers of six consecutive contests.
