Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto will not make his scheduled start Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies, the team has announced.

The Reds have yet to disclose a reason for Cueto's unavailability, though the right-hander missed more than a month with a strained right oblique earlier in the season before returning to action on May 20.

Cueto turned in a dominating performance in his most recent outing, limiting Pittsburgh to just one hit over eight shutout innings in a 6-0 win over the Pirates last Friday.

The Reds will recall right-hander Pedro Villarreal from Triple-A Louisville to make his major league debut in Cueto's place.

Villarreal, 25, has posted a 1-3 record with a 5.03 earned run average in 11 starts with the Bats this season.
