Red Sox get Mortensen from Colorado for Scutaro

The Boston Red Sox have acquired pitcher Clayton Mortensen from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for shortstop Marco Scutaro.

Mortensen, 26, went 2-4 with a 3.86 earned run average in 16 appearances (six starts) last season with Colorado.

Over three seasons with St. Louis, Oakland and Colorado, he is 4-8 with a 5.12 ERA in 24 appearances (13 starts).

Scutaro, 36, appeared in 113 games with Boston last season and batted a career-high .299 with seven home runs and 54 RBI.

Since coming into the majors in 2002, he is a career .270 hitter with 68 homers and 404 RBI in 1,103 games with the Mets, Athletics, Blue Jays and Red Sox.
