The Texas Rangers placed pitcher Koji Uehara on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, retroactive to June 10, with a right latissimus dorsi strain.
Uehara has yet to record a decision in 20 relief appearances for Texas this season, pitching to a 2.11 earned run average, fanning 22 and walking two in 21 1/3 innings.
To take his place on the roster, the Rangers recalled outfielder Leonys Martin from Triple-A Round Rock. Martin recently returned to the lineup after missing more than a month with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb suffered when sliding into a base on May 1 for Round Rock.
