Third baseman Adrian Beltre is not in the Texas Rangers lineup for the third consecutive game in the AL Division Series.

Rookie Hanser Alberto is again starting at third base Monday in Game 4 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Beltre hasn't played since exiting early from the series opener Thursday with a strained lower back.

Manager Jeff Banister says Beltre is slightly better but not ready to start. Beltre took swings in the batting cage Sunday night and received more treatment Monday. Bannister says running is probably ''most problematic'' for Beltre.

Texas leads the best-of-five series 2-1. The Blue Jays have to win Monday to force a deciding Game 5 in Toronto.
