Rain was the big winner Friday in Birmingham, where all four quarterfinal matches were pushed into Saturday at the $220,000 Aegon Classic, a grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.

Fourth-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci was tied with Chinese Zheng Jie 3-6, 6-5 when their match was suspended for the day at Edgbaston Priory Club.

Three other quarters never started on Day 5, as fifth-seeded Serb Jelena Jankovic will meet Japan's Misaki Doi, eighth-seeded Russian Ekaterina Makarova will encounter 13th-seeded Taiwanese Su-Wei Hsieh, and Melanie Oudin will battle fellow American Irina Falconi on Saturday.

The former world No. 1 Jankovic titled here in 2007 and was the Birmingham runner-up in 2005.

One match was completed on Friday, as Doi downed France's Stephanie Foretz Gacon 6-4, 7-5 in a final third-round bout this week. Their match was suspended because of rain on Thursday.

The semifinals will also be on Saturday's schedule.

The 2012 Aegon Classic winner will collect $37,000.
