Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Americans Sam Querrey and Jack Sock were semifinal winners Saturday and will meet for the title at the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship.
Sock reached his first career ATP final with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over third-seeded South African Kevin Anderson before the eighth-seeded Querrey took out defending champion Fernando Verdasco of Spain in a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 decision.
It will be the first all-American final in Houston since Andre Agassi beat Andy Roddick in 2003.
Sock managed to break only once in nine chances Saturday, but it came at an opportune time in the second set. He also survived 14 Anderson aces and won 77 percent of his service points.
Querrey, the 2010 Houston runner-up to Juan Ignacio Chela, pulled off his second upset in as many days after ousting top-seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the quarterfinals on Friday.
On Sunday, Querrey will play in his 13th career final. He owns a record of 7-5 in title matches, his last coming three years ago in Los Angeles when he beat Ricardas Berankis.
Sunday's winner will claim $88,800.
